Diego Leoni

Diego Leoni has been a Dry Needling and Manual Therapy instructor of the DGSA since 2015, teaching physiotherapists and healthcare professionals across Europe and Southeast Asia.
He combines clinical practice, research, and education. He graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Brescia, Italy, in 2001, and specialised in the Rehabilitation of Musculoskeletal Disorders at the University of Genoa in 2005. In 2014, he completed a Master of Science in Physiotherapy Sciences at the University College of Physiotherapy Thim van der Laan in Landquart, Switzerland.
From 2008 to 2013, he taught the theory and practice of Manual Therapy at the University of Genoa. Between 2010 and 2018, he was a researcher at the Rehabilitation Research Laboratory of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), where his research focused on pain assessment, spinal manipulation, neurodynamics, myofascial trigger points, and Electrophysical Agents.
He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, including WCPT, ISEK, AIFI, SIF, and OFI.
Since 2024, he has worked as a consultant on Dry Needling for the Italian Federation of Physiotherapy Orders (FNOFI).
Alongside his teaching and research activities, Diego maintains an active clinical practice in Lugano, where he treats patients with neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
He is passionate about physiotherapy and considers it one of the most rewarding professions in the world.
